What's happening?
Isambard Kingdom Brunel was arguably the greatest British engineer of the 19th Century. He dominated a wide range of fields - railways, shipping and civil engineering, from his earliest days through to his premature death in 1859. Championed by Jeremy Clarkson in the BBC's "100 Greatest Briton" poll in 2002, Brunel may have been small in stature, but his ambition and talent was large, and many of his achievements still survive today – the SS Great Britain steamship, the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Paddington Station are memorials to the man who changed the landscape of Victorian Britain so dramatically.
